Is it a good idea or a bad idea to use PvE chars to do PvP?
Is it a good idea or a bad idea to use PvE chars to do PvP?
I have a bunch of clanmates who repeatedly use PvE chars to fight GvG and such. I've thought the entire time that using PvE chars for that is a bad idea, but they insist otherwise. What reasons are there to use PvE chars instead of PvP chars?

Personal preference really. The only thing that a PvE character can have that a PvP character can't is Ascended or Obsidian armor.
In most cases I feel that a PvP character is better though, unless you've farmed or obtained in some other way all the maxed out equipment you need for your builds.

PVP charcters are for PVP only.
PVE can be used for both.
Both have advantages and disadvantages depending on your playing style.
At the moment, PVE, IMO, has an advantage for the ability to get new skills and unlock upgrades and runes faster.

Pve characters have 30 extra attribute points due to the two quests that give 15 extra each, apart from that they're more expensive to respec into different builds than a pvp character.

Err, not so much. If you don't do the attribute point quests your PvE characters have a total of 170 points to spend, PvP characters always have 200.

Like he said, it is the PvE char that has a disadvantage if you don't make the 2 +15 attributes quest.

A weird advantage for PvE characters in PvP: You can carry around a whole bunch of different armors, for whatever you might fight against. This matters a lot for elementalists, for instance, who can have armor protecting from fire, water, earth, or air. If you aren't facing an air spike team, the air armor is probably pointless, but in that case it's invaluable.

Does anybody really do this?
Ohh and for warrior classes, I feel that some btter shields are out there, as well as the option to have more weapons. My warrior carries 3 axes. And two swords. And two hammers. And a bow. And a smiting staff, and ankh and stuff. Addict?

I always use PvP characters. I don't have to spend thousands of gold on equipment, I don't have to worry about refund points, and I can play class combinations that I don't have in PvE.
Plus, if I choose a premade, but change it, I'll have access to skills that I haven't unlocked yet.

I always use my PvE characters, I like to bring the characters I worked hard on into battle.

I'm pretty sure that was fixed when people brought +3 DF headpieces for boonprots.
